Al-Amin Group,
one of the leading conglomerate groups of companies in Bangladesh. Anwar Mirza,
a visionary leader and the founder of this Group, who turned a small bakery into
the largest and the most modern biscuits manufacturing company in Bangladesh.
The group was incorporated in 1969 as a private limited company in Bangladesh.
Today, Al-Amin group is more than a biscuit company. The group has vested
interest in beverage, trading, textile, insurance company, snacks, fishery,
pharmaceutical, oil, plastic, and other consumer products. The group generates
employment opportunities for more than twenty five thousand people in Bangladesh.
Al-Amin group is also one of the largest buyers of our country's agricultural
and dairy products. The group is also one of the largest taxpayers of the
country. Al-Amin Group plays a vital part of the everyday life of the country.
Our Chief Executive of the group has been selected as Commercial Important
Person (CIP Industry) by the Bangladesh government for the thirteenth year in a
row due to our company's enormous contribution to the nation's economy for the
development of industrialization. This is an honor that is given to a very few
distinguished business leaders in the country by the Peoples Republic of
Bangladesh government every year.
After graduating from a four-year college, Mr. Mirza opened a bakery and pastry
shop in his home district of Noakhali. The name of the business is Mustafa Bread
& Biscuits Factory. The business had done so well under his direct supervision,
he even planned to build a fully automated modern biscuit manufacturing plant
with the help of Japan. By 1977 his dream came true; Al-Amin went into
operation. Since the inception of this company, Al-Amin was able to position
itself in the market as high quality biscuits with a reasonable price that is
affordable for all kinds of customers. By 1981, Al-Amin became the nation’s
leading well-known brand to all in Bangladesh as well as to its competitors. To
keep up with the increased demand, AL-Amin had bought its second new plant from
Japan in 1981, and the third plant in 1984, and the fourth new state of-the art
plant in 2000. The company exports its biscuits in most of South and South East
Asia and Middle East. It also plans to export its product in Europe and North
America in the years to come. The direct initiative, sedulous work, and
visionary leadership of Mr. Mirza have led not only to the establishment of Al-Amin
Biscuits, but also to the building of several other companies. In 1988, Mr.
Mirza built the first unit of a hydro-generated oil refinery plant by the name
of Habib Vegetable Products Limited. The company has earned its reputation for
producing pure unadulterated edible vegetable oil. By adding the second plant in
1990 to meet its current burgeoning demands, Habib Vegetable Products Limited
became nation’s one of the largest and most modern oil refinery companies. He
was a former CEO of this company. A 520acre of Al-Amin Agro fishery project was
launched in 1999. The agro- based fishery is meeting the daily demands of
millions of people in Bangladesh and abroad. Various types of fish and shrimps
and lobsters are cultivated here.
In new era of leadership took place when Mr. Shibli Mirza, currently Deputy CEO
of Al-Amin Group, joined the company ten years ago as Director (Marketing). He
transformed the whole Marketing Department. Under the leadership of Mr. Shibli
Mirza, whose unique imagination, and impeccable planning made Al-Amin biscuit
division known as the nation’s number one biscuit manufacturer and one of the
largest food sectors in Bangladesh. His energy, foresight, intellect, dynamism,
and diligence have led to various different types of projects in order to
diversify the company’s business portfolio. The Group has invested heavily in
other food businesses since it already holds a strong leadership position in
this arena. The Group has invested in snacks, roasted peanut, beverage,
Pharmaceutical, plastic, insurance, textile, and trading. The fat-free snacks
project alone with a state –of –the- art facility, is one of the most modern
snacks manufacturing company in the world in terms of producing high quality of
snack product. The snack project has already made its debut in July 2002 and
added a new peanut division in the year of 2004. A newly built 100,000 square
foot facility has been built in accordance with FDA, USA guideline. We maintain
a strong hygiene in all our food manufacturing facility that meets American and
European standard. The plastic company came into operation in the year of 2001.
It is producing high quality plastic for its other subsidiary companies. The
most advanced and sophisticated pharmaceutical company came into existence in
June 2003. AL-Amin Logistics came into operation as a separate entity of Al-Amin
Group in the beginning of 2004. This logistic company has more than three
hundred trucks, vans and pick-up trucks to carry it subsidiary companies’
product on a daily basis all over Bangladesh. 139,000 square foot bottling plant
is the most expansive and one of the most modern bottling plants equipped with
the world’s most advanced and sophisticated technology. Al-Amin Group recently
signed a franchise agreement with Double-Cola, USA. The bottling plant will be
operational in 2004. The executives of Al-Amin Group are also planning to
undertake another rigorous initiative to build a modern composite textile mill
(proposed) in the beginning of 2006. The new company has been registered as
publicly held under the name of Farhana Textile Mills Limited (FTML). If God’s
willing and everything goes as well as planned, the new Textile Company would be
one of the most technologically advanced in the world. Strategy. Al-Amin Group
has also taken another entrepreneurial adventure to extend his hand in the
economy by building a most modern aluminum plant for its other subsidiary
companies.
Because of enormous contribution to the economy and his exemplary
entrepreneurial success and leadership, the “Daily Jatio Nissan Medal’’, was
awarded to Mr. Mirza in the year of 1995. Mr. Mirza has also been selected as
Commercial Important Person (CIP) by the government of Peoples Republic of
Bangladesh for the last thirteen years in a row; an honor that is reserved for a
few distinguished elite business leaders. Mr. Mirza was designated by the
Bangladesh Government to hold the job as a Vice-Chairman of the city of Majidee
for two years.
Besides being an industrialist, Mr. Mirza is known to all in Bangladesh as a
social reformer, humanitarian and philanthropist. He has formed a social
organization by the name of Anwar Mirza Foundation in order to enhance his
social, benevolent, and magnanimous activities to those who are in dire need.
The focal point behind opening such an organization is to extend his
eleemosynary support to all. The Mirza Foundation donates millions of Taka to
schools, colleges, and cultural and social organizations to promote an awareness
of cultural harmony, religious diversity, and importance of education among the
people of Bangladesh. To encourage students for higher education and help them
acquire knowledge to succeed in this global economy, Anwar Mirza Foundation also
gives scholarships to thousands of students of various schools, colleges and
universities across the country. Mr. Mirza is involved with many social,
cultural, religious, and educational organizations in Bangladesh. Most of these
organizations receive financial and technical support from his company.
